Rocco die Raupe, (b.2025-2025), was an absolute unit of a caterpillar that is best known for spectating the Schmerikon Regatta on May 11. His impressive size and non-chalantness about life filled them with hubris and a confidence that would take over the world. On May the 11th, this confidence led him to mingle among the Belvoir RC team spectating near the finish line in between the races. Immediately, their large size and colourful pigmentation impressed the group of people, who approached Rocco with awe, respect and a little bit of fear (is it poisonous, or venomous?). Rocco, filled with high self-esteem, walked among the spectators with all 6 of his tiny legs. The spectators in turn kept alert at his movements, yet were amused by the beast and its eagerness to interact with humans. Despite their young age, Rocco made a profound impact, and taught valuable lessons in self-esteem, attitude, and persistence. Would Rocco eat the tobacco in the cigarette butts someone stuffed into a crack? Would he make their way to the bush full of tasty tasty leaves? Would Rocco eventually climb a tree and make a cocoon? What would come out of the other side? Rocco, a modern-day Icarus, used his enlightened mind to search for ever more stimulating experiences. It was on May 11th, 2025, when he did not fly too close to the sun, but tried their luck with going for a swim on the lake. It was on this swim, and after having the best day of their life, that Rocco would meet an untimely end. There are many caterpillars like Rocco, yet few manage to equal the impact Rocco managed in a day, within their lifetimes. We remember Rocco die Raupe in our hearts. // This in-memoriam was not AI generated // If you read this far - follow me on Strava if you haven’t already >:) // Find information about this species here Jose Lavariega-Gomez Comments are closed.
